Grab PH set to deploy more driver-partners

MANILA, Philippines  -Grab Philippines is ramping up efforts to onboard more driver-partners following the opening of new transport network vehicle service (TNVS) slots to cater to increasing demand for ride-hailing services.

In a statement on Friday, the super app operator said it recently held an event in Marikina City to fill the TNVS slots made available by the Land Transportation, Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Grab said almost a thousand potential driver-partners participated in the event since fewer requirements were now needed for the franchise application.

“We are optimistic that through [such events], we are taking the right step toward providing more livelihood in the ride-hailing sector, while offering our commuters with safe, reliable and more affordable means of mobility for their everyday needs,” he added.

Grab had also earlier raised the need to allocate TNVS slots in the provinces, such as Pampanga, Albay, Camarines Sur, Iloilo City, Bacolod City and Cebu.

It was also looking into expanding in Mindanao to fast-track digital transformation initiatives.

“The fresh allocation of TNVS supply is truly a welcome development. Grab has initiated discussions with the local governments of Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Iligan to hopefully launch Grab’s super app services in their cities to enable their constituents to enjoy digital services,” Roda had said.

Grab earlier teamed up with GCash for a payment solution to allow passengers to use the e-wallet to settle transactions without incurring additional fees. INQ
