P1-B New Clark City solar farm project up for grabs
The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) on Wednesday said it would bid out a P1-billion contract for the development of a new solar farm in New Clark City, potentially the third clean energy facility in the metropolis.
The BCDA announced it was seeking private partners to build this large-scale solar photovoltaic power plant on a 37-hectare property at the northernmost portion of the New Clark City.
It said the facility must have a production capacity of at least 25 megawatts (MW) and an investment of at least P1 billion.
“In line with the renewable energy thrust of the Marcos administration, the BCDA is pushing for the development of sustainable energy sources in New Clark City. This solar farm is one of the crucial projects in New Clark City as it will supplement energy sources and lower energy costs for our locators, while also ensuring reduced carbon emissions,” BCDA president and CEO Aileen Zosa said in a statement.
She said private sector participation was important to turn New Clark City into a “smart, sustainable and green city.”
The BCDA said it was offering the property for an initial lease period of 25 years, renewable for another 25 years upon mutual agreement of the parties, as stipulated under the terms of reference (TOR).

To recall, two other solar farm facilities have been put up in the 9,450-hectare metropolis under two distinct service contracts, one in 2017 for a 100-MW solar power facility worth P11.75 billion and another in 2018 for another 100-MW worth P8.5-billion.
