MANILA, Philippines  – Davao Light & Power Co. Inc. on Tuesday announced that it had secured its fourth ISO certification for an asset management system after completing a three-day audit last year.

This allows Davao Light, a subsidiary of AboitizPower, to effectively manage the lifecycle of its assets, which could aid in emergency response during power interruptions.

“Our assets such as our lines and poles are key to delivering the best service to our customers, so their management is vital to our operations,” said Rodger Velasco, Davao Light president and chief operating officer.

An organized system, Davao Light noted, would help the firm in dispatching their crew, pulling out line hardware and poles, and coordinating between teams and crews involved in power interruption response.

This could also help in minimizing delays in addressing customer concerns, mitigating risks, avoiding unnecessary costs and resource wastage, and enhancing Davao Light’s capability.

At present, Davao Light also has ISO certifications in quality, occupational health and safety, and environmental management systems.

“To our customers, these certifications translate to the faster and more efficient delivery of service. These further ensure that we can provide — at the most reasonable cost — safe and reliable power, which is what they need the most,” Velasco said.

Davao Light, which serves customers in Davao City and some areas in Davao del Norte, earlier said it expected lower electricity rates for February after overall power rates declined.

Electricity rate went down to P11.52 per kilowatt hour from P12.45 per kWh in January, meaning households with an average power consumption of 200 kWh could see a decrease of P185.94 in their February billing.
