Converge ICT comes to Boracay

The connectivity service of Converge ICT Solutions Inc. is set to be available in Boracay, supporting the economy of one of the country’s top tourist destinations.

In a statement on Monday, the listed company announced that residents would be able to tap its services by the end of the first quarter.

“We are excited to finally bring our world-class fiber broadband to Boracay, itself a world-class tourist destination. We are here to serve the connectivity needs of both local and foreign tourists, as we know internet connection is a value-adding service to any tourist hot spot,” Converge CEO and cofounder Dennis Anthony Uy said.

Converge said it was expecting the hospitality sector to benefit the most from its services with the return of tourism activities in the island after being quiet for some time due to pandemic restrictions.

“Boracay is an amazing place for memories and adventure, and we hope to make it the absolute paradise that it already is by providing its residents, visitors and businesses a consistent, hassle-free and seamless connectivity experience through our world-class, award- winning products and services,” Converge chief operations officer Jesus Romero said.

This year, Converge anticipates to meet its 55-percent household coverage target. It was at 53 percent as of Sept. 30, 2022.
The listed internet service provider recently reported it had breached the 2-million mark for its port deployment goal in 2022 amid the growing demand for internet connectivity.

It had earmarked P21 billion to P23 billion in capital expenditures last year to support its network rollout.

Last month, the company’s subsidiary, Converge ICT Singapore Pte. Ltd. was given the facilities-based operations license by the Infocomm Media Development Authority, a statutory board under the Singapore Ministry of Communications and Information. This allows Converge to offer connectivity services directly to customers in Singapore.

Among the services it can provide include ethernet-international private line service, dedicated internet access service, carrier ethernet network service, internet protocol virtual private network service and sale and resale of submarine cable capacities.
