3 more cities comply with digital biz hub requirement

Three more cities in Metro Manila have joined a list of local government units (LGUs) that have established fully functional digital one-stop shops addressing the needs of businesses.

The Anti-Red Tape Authority (Arta) on Feb 18 recognized Quezon City, Manila City and Valenzuela City for complying with a mandatory requirement, called the eBOSS, prescribed under Republic Act No. 11032 or the “Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act of 2018.”

Parañaque City was the first to receive the recognition last month.

“All cities which implemented the joint memorandum circular on the electronic business one-stop shop (eBOSS) have one common denominator, all of them were able to increase the number of business registrations and their revenues,” Arta Secretary Ernesto Perez said in a statement.

Arta said Quezon City was able to increase revenues via eBOSS by P984.3 million in 2022, while Valenzuela City recorded an increase of almost P30 million. Manila, meanwhile, has seen its business tax revenues increase by P106.4 million year-to-date compared to the same period last year, Arta said.

Perez said the agency would consolidate and send to President Marcos the reports from the LGUs. Under the law, Arta said the digital hub must feature a unified application form and allow online uploading of required documents and issuance of electronic tax bills or order of payment. It must also allow the issuance of a valid electronic permit, an integrated online payment feature, and a link connecting to a physical courier for delivery of permits. INQ
