Czech companies exploring business opportunities in PH
A trade delegation from the Czech Republic is exploring business opportunities in the Philippines, looking at fresh investments and partnerships in a number of key industries including energy, infrastructure and waste management.
Czech Chamber of Commerce vice president Michal Stefl told reporters on Wednesday that a trade delegation of 16 firms from the central European country has been in the Philippines for a week to look at new business opportunities.
Stefl, whose group represents 15,000 member-companies in the Czech Republic, says they can offer new production technologies to Philippine partners.
“What is interesting with Czech production (technologies), we have the western quality and the eastern prices. So, it is quite a good combination,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the business conference between Czeh and Filipino business groups at the Dusit Thani Hotel on Wednesday.
“We are also looking to play some role in (local) industries. Hydro energy for instance,” Stefl said.
Stefl said that aside from Metro Manila, the group would also visit Davao and another province to speak with potential investment partners.
Members of the trade delegation include representatives of Czech firms AŽD Praha, CREA Hydro and Energy, Crocodille CR, Elektro SMS, Export Guarantee and Insurance Corporation, Grapecare Ltd., Perspektiva Znojmo, Prague Investment Corporation, SaZ, IPOLT CZ, WASTen, Dodex, Enress, Essence Line, and CzechTrade.
Karolina Mala of WASTen, a waste management firm, told the Inquirer in a separate interview that they were looking to partner with both the government and private sectors in the Philippines.
Mala said they already had initial discussions with the local governments of Manila, Cebu, and Davao, but that nothing definite had been set.
“We focus on the environmental side of these technologies,” Mala said.
“We have offerings on waste management, some options for landfill systems as well, and other more advanced technologies,” she said further.
