MerryMart to cater to growing needs of sprawling Ayala Land communities

One of the fastest growing retail store chains in the country finds home in two contemporary, sustainable growth centers of Ayala Land.
MerryMart Consumer Corp. will soon be opening stand-alone, full-sized eco-friendly supermarkets in the 2,290-hectare Nuvali in Laguna and the 290-hectare Cresendo in Tarlac, where it plans to cater to the growing needs of the sprawling communities here. The two up and coming MerryMart stores will be a promising addition to Ayala Land’s expanding dynamic estates, which in turn offer the retail chain a premium business location in a highly conducive environment.
“Ayala Land—being one of the largest property developers in the Philippines that promotes sustainable development and provides long term value to stakeholders—is definitely a place where we want our stores to be,” said Maria Mercedes Taleon, chief development officer of MerryMart.
For this expansion, MerryMart and AyalaLand Estates inked a 15-year lease agreement for the former’s planned stores in Nuvali and Cresendo.
Dynamic synergies

It is always great to grow with AyalaLand Estates as we believe there are synergies created on both sides,” Taleon explained.
These synergies will also be reflected in both companies’ thrust for sustainability. Complementing the eco-friendly lifestyle that AyalaLand Estates espouse are the green features of the planned MerryMart supermarkets.
Both the 2,200-sqm store in Nuvali and 2,100-sqm branch in Cresendo will feature solar panels on the roofs, LED lighting fixtures, bicycle slots and electric car charging provisions.
These two stores will also carry MerryMart’s full line of grocery, pharmacy, personal care and other basic essential products, and will offer retail and wholesale online delivery channels.
Healthy, thriving markets
The Nuvali and Cresendo branches formed part of MerryMart’s plan to “serve and delight consumers within the vibrant community developments of Ayala Land.” At the same time, it will allow MerryMart to inch closer to its goal of having 1,200 branches by 2030 and of becoming “one of the Philippines’ largest, and most relevant household essential retail store chains.”
Nuvali, which spans across key areas of Sta. Rosa and Calamba in Laguna, is Ayala Land’s thriving sustainable community in one of the fastest growing locations in the country.
The estate presents a healthy, thriving market for businesses like MerryMart as it is currently home to more than 20,000 residents in 25 villages, surrounded by educational and medical institutions, IT and industrial parks, retail complexes, as well as lifestyle and recreational destinations.
Cresendo, meanwhile, impeccably weaves the quaint rustic charm of Tarlac and its growing economic dynamism.
Ayala Land’s promising commercial and lifestyle development will feature residential developments, an industrial park, lush open spaces and parkways, as well as the 47-hectare Cresendo Downtown, which will meanwhile house commercial, civic establishments and institutions such as a church, a school, a technical training center, and the 1.5-hectare Cresendo Town Plaza, a gathering place for seasonal activities and community events.
MerryMart is indeed a much-awaited, highly exciting addition to the Nuvali and Cresendo estates—premium, flourishing locations where MerryMart can contribute not only to their communities, but more importantly to their local economies.
