Mansmith honors 2023 senior marketing mentors

On its fifth year, the Mansmith Market Masters Awards (MMMA) once again honors outstanding senior marketing executives who mentored members of their teams toward both professional and personal excellence. Because of their mentorship, their mentees became the recipients of the Mansmith Young Market Masters Awards (YMMA), which is the first and only recognition program for marketers and entrepreneurs 35 years old and below in the Philippines. The awarding ceremony will be part of the 14th Mansmith Market Masters Conference which is happening on May 17, 2023, at SMX Manila, gearing for a wider audience to emulate and learn from these four awardees.

1. Mars Aaron is the founder of Villa Socorro Agri-Eco Village. Earlier, he was the marketing director of Unilever Philippines and president and chief executive officer of Unilever-Bestfoods. He was nominated by Pamela Tiu Takai, a 2011 Mansmith YMMA winner and currently the chief marketing officer of Nestlé Philippines. As a mentor, Aaron believes in getting the views and opinions of his mentees. He also teaches them to be hands-on and to not be afraid to “get their hands dirty.”

2. Issa Guevarra-Cabreira is the chief commercial officer of Globe, who was at the forefront of its expansion as well as integration of e-money and mobile health access in their telecom offerings. She was nominated by Winsley Bangit, 2011 Mansmith YMMA winner and currently chief customer officer of GCash. As a mentor, Guevarra-Cabreira emphasizes the importance of setting up one’s self with support because she believes that it is impossible for anyone to do anything on his or her own. She is also a big advocate of having the right work-life balance.

3. Ana Aboitiz-Delgado, the senior executive vice president, chief customer experience officer and chief digital channels officer of UnionBank of the Philippines, is at the helm of the bank’s customer experience and digitalization. She was nominated by Ron Batisan, 2019 Mansmith YMMA winner and currently senior vice president of UnionBank. Aboitiz-Delgado has taught her mentees to be customer-centric before deciding on what technology to use, ensuring that the vision, story and customer experience design are all aligned. This allows the teams to put aside personal biases and focus efforts on what would work best for the customer.

4. Angie Flaminiano, president and chief operating officer of NutriAsia, was nominated by Gretchen King, 2016 Mansmith YMMA winner and currently senior marketing manager of NutriAsia. One of Flaminiano’s legacy as a mentor was teaching and emphasizing the value of excellence as everyday habit, alongside focused innovative thinking. This led to record-breaking achievements among her mentees.

These four executives will join a highly decorated roster of previous awardees: John Concepcion, CEO of Unilever RFM Ice Cream, Inc.; Margot Torres, managing director of McDonald’s Philippines; Noel Lorenzana, president and CEO of Mediaquest Inc.
