The country’s biggest operator of homegrown hospitality brands is heading to Palawan as it revealed plans to open its first hotel in the town of San Vicente, home to country’s longest white sand beach.

Andrew Tan’s Megaworld Corp. said the 306-room Savoy Palawan will rise within the property giant’s 462-hectare Paragua Coastown and will be completed by 2028.

It will be the 17th hotel property launched by Megaworld Hotels and Resorts, which operates brands such as Savoy, Richmonde and Belmont.

“This will be our first hotel in Palawan, which will be the fourth Savoy Hotel in our portfolio,”

Cleofe Albiso, managing director at Megaworld Hotels and Resorts, said in a statement on Thursday.

Savoy Palawan will feature various hotel amenities, including indoor and outdoors restaurants, a spa and a ballroom. The hotel also have green features such as recycled water from a “rain harvesting facility” and energy-efficient equipment.

“Savoy Palawan will highlight some sustainability features that will make it as a luxury green hotel,” Albiso said.

San Vicente is gaining recognition as a top tourist destination for its laid back atmosphere and its main attraction, the 14-kilometer Long Beach.

“As we continue to tap on the rising opportunities in Philippine tourism, we also hope to meet the demand for accommodations in San Vicente, which is known to have the longest beach line in the entire country,” Albiso said.

Megaworld chief strategy officer Kevin L. Tan said last December the company was bullish on tourism, which would benefit from a “second wave” of revenge spending and travel as the Chinese market opens up from a multiyear pandemic lockdown.

Megaworld has 12 operational hotels while five are in the pipeline, including the Grand Westside Hotel in Parañaque City, which will be the biggest hotel in the Philippines once it opens.
