Food packs await early business permit applicants in Makati

Creating communities where people thrive

Rockwell Center in Makati City is now touted as the gold standard for highly upscale developments.

MANILA, Philippines — In hopes to encourage business owners to get their permits with the city government early, Makati City Mayor Abby Binay said on Friday that they would be giving away around 15,000 food packs to those ‘early bird’ applicants.

Binay said in a statement that they would give the food packs, including free coffee and snacks to those who would apply for business permits from January 3 to 31.

“The free meal is a small token of appreciation to business owners who promptly renew their business permits to continue operating in the city. We appreciate their continued trust and loyalty to the city and value their contributions in making Makati the premier financial district,” Mayor Abby said.

“I encourage Makati business owners to beat the January 31, 2023 deadline in order to avoid the penalties on late payments,” Mayor Abby said.

Binay clarified that businesses in Makati are required to renew local permits every year. Under the City Ordinance No. 2022-A-171 recently approved by the City Council, the deadline for the acceptance of payments for business licenses without penalty is by 5:00 p.m. of January 31, 2023.

“Based on the city revenue code, late payments incur a 25 percent surcharge and a two percent penalty per month of delay until the amount due is fully settled,” the Makati local government unit (LGU) said.

“Starting January 9 to 31, 2023, the BPLO will operate from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends,” it added.

Business owners can go to the ground floor of Makati City Hall Building II, and submit the following requirements to renew their business permits:
