MANILA, Philippines — Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) said it already resolved on Wednesday the erroneous duplicate transactions that affected clients’ bank accounts.

“We are pleased to inform you of the successful resolution of the duplicate transactions on affected BPI accounts,” BPI said in an advisory posted at 6:31 p.m.

In the advisory, the bank said clients may still have difficulty accessing its online platforms and mobile app.

“Given the high volume of inquiries on our online banking channels, you may experience intermittent access to our web and mobile app platforms,” BPI said.

“Rest assured that your account is safe and secure,” it added.

The incident triggered a slew of complaints from customers early Wednesday after they discovered that money was deducted from their accounts amid a wave of mysterious debit charges.
