PetroEnergy taps Vestas for wind power project in Aklan

A subsidiary of Yuchengco-led PetroEnergy Resources Corp. (PERC) enlisted the services of Denmark-based wind turbine manufacturer Vestas for the development of its 13.2-megawatt Nabas-2 wind power project in Aklan.

PERC informed the local bourse that its wind entity, PetroWind Energy Inc. (PWEI), and Vestas inked the turbine supply and maintenance deal for the power generation facility.

The agreement involves Vestas delivering six units of 2.2-MW wind turbine generators and handling operations and maintenance of the wind farm through a 10-year operations and maintenance (O&M) agreement.

“We welcome this new partnership with Vestas. Being one of the leading energy solution providers worldwide, we are confident that Vestas will bring the latest advancements in wind farm technology and best practices in O&M for Nabas-2,” PERC assistant vice president for power plant operations Paul Elmer Morala said .

PWEI, a joint venture of PetroGreen Energy Corp., EEI Power Corp. and Thailand’s BCPG Public Company Ltd., clinched a contract to supply energy to the Visayas following the Green Energy Auction Program held in June this year.

The new wind project is located in the same service contract block as the existing 36-MW Nabas-1 wind project of PWEI.

Aside from the Nabas-1 wind project, PERC is operating, through subsidiaries, various renewable energy plants such as the 32-MW Maibarara Geothermal Project of Maibarara Geothermal Inc. and the 70-MW Tarlac Solar Project of PetroSolar Corp.
