Aboitiz InfraCapital’s LIMA Estate, a pioneer in smart and green industrial development in the country, is the first economic estate to receive BERDE district five-star accreditation from the Philippine Green Building Council.

With the world opening up and roaring back to new (normal) life, the progress and development that had once been put on hold is now starting up and running at full speed. And with all this progress, it’s easy to get lost in the hustle. But if there’s anything the years of pause have taught us, it’s that practicing care, in all its forms, is essential if we want to achieve sure and steady progress.

Recent years have also made us more aware of the challenges faced by both society and the earth, and knowing this but not taking the proper action would only be reckless and insensitive. Many organizations have since begun to restrategize, taking greater consideration into what can benefit people and the planet.

For some like the Aboitiz Group, this reevaluation has led to a stronger commitment to innovation. With the understanding that this can still balance technology and holistic sustainability, they continue to create products and services that demonstrate how progress can still be achieved with care.

Beautiful landscapes integrate well with sources of water, creating rain gardens that collect and restrict the flow of rainwater reducing flooding and erosion. Aboitiz Land’s signature features aim to put value in both natural and man-made environments, for a better quality of life.

It all starts at home

Technology is now an undeniable part of life, and since the pandemic, innovation and digitalization have grown by leaps and bounds. Even home buying, which has also experienced significant growth in the pandemic, has taken the digital road.

Aboitiz Land had recently transitioned their brand positioning, emphasizing the role of innovation and technology in their systems. As part of the conglomerate’s Great Transformation 2025 journey, Aboitiz Land has integrated digitalization efforts and their unique remix program—involving cross-generational insights within the company.

As early as 2020, Aboitiz Land pioneered contactless home buying. Adapting to the need to ensure health safety, but still being able to provide for their clients, contactless services through their own digital platforms started.

Their Vecino App and Portal allow clients to search for homes, conduct virtual tours, and even make reservations up to monitoring and turnover completely online. Documentation could be done and monitored through these digital portals, making the home-buying experience convenient and safe for clients and the company.

They’ve also established partnerships with other tech-forward companies, like mortgage brokering firm Nook, which helps Aboitiz Land clients through home loan applications, and UnionBank which helps with the use of data science and artificial intelligence to improve their customer profiling system.

With innovation at the core of the brand, Aboitiz Land has taken many sure steps to ensure that their tech and data-driven services nurture not just the Filipino families they serve, but the people behind the services, too.

Building sustainability

On a larger scale, there is also a need for the Philippines to catch up with its neighbors in the region in terms of development.

Aboitiz Construction has steadily been involved in advancing both economic growth and the welfare of communities through livelihood, and its numerous projects are proof.

Among the company’s current construction projects is the expansion of LIMA Estate, a booming economic zone in Lipa and Malvar, Batangas.

This almost 800-hectare PEZA registered zone is set to be developed as a next-generation smart economic center. Aboitiz Construction has also recently completed the design and construction of a 69-kV overhead transmission line for LIMA Enerzone, which will provide more effective power reliability for the area.

The company also constructed a 6,000-sq.m. storage warehouse for La Filipina Uy Gongco Corp. in Iloilo City, which is set to improve the logistics of world-class agricultural products in the region.

There is also work done in eco-tourism, through the development of Magspeak Nature Park Inc., located in the mountainous area in Balamban, Cebu.

A total of 16 barangay officials from Buanoy and Arpilin in Balamban, Cebu participated in Community Risk Mapping Training through Aboitiz Construction, Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. and Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation.

And understanding that it is not enough to just focus on development, the company has also partnered with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) to provide community resilience and disaster risk reduction awareness and preparedness programs for farmers and fishermen in Bataan, Surigao del Norte, and Batangas, and for barangay officials in Cebu.

Investing in the future

Despite current challenges brought about by various global factors, the Philippines is slowly rising to its potential as a major economic player in the region.

Aboitiz InfraCapital (AIC) is one of the key players in infrastructure development in the Philippines, focusing on four pillars namely: economic estates, water facilities, digital infrastructure, and transport and mobility.

With various economic estates rising across the country, it can be assured that the Philippines will continue to be a favored location for business, as well as a hotspot for industrial growth.

Leading smart and sustainable estate development in the Philippines, AIC is set to transform the LIMA Estate into a next-generation, future-ready economic center that will house more businesses and green developments.

The LIMA Estate also boasts numerous green certifications. Its 11-story LIMA Tower One is PEZA-certified and BERDE-accredited. It is also the first industrial park to achieve a 5-star rating for the BERDE District Certification, which is the highest rating awarded by the Philippine Green Building Council (PhilGBC). The Estate has also since earned various other sustainability and green development awards.

Among the initiatives that have helped the estate achieve these recognitions are its use of renewable energy. Its own power utility, LIMA Enerzone, sources geothermal and hydro energy, while developments within LIMA’s central business district, as well as The Outlets at Lipa, make use of solar energy.

AIC is also using technology and innovation to reshape the water industry. It oversees LIMA Water Corp. (LWC), which provides sustainable water supply in LIMA Estate. It has also been commissioned by the Davao City Water District to build and operate the Bulk Water Supply Project which will tap the Tamugan River as a surface water source that will run on renewable energy through a built-in hydroelectric power plant. Both will employ a Smart Water Network, using interconnected and AI-powered water facilities to improve operational efficiency, savings, and more responsible use of natural resources.

AIC is also set to further the growth of data centers in the country, as it sees that the country is among the leaders in digital media and service use, and with the country’s dominance in the IT-BPM sector globally.
