IBM sets up Japan Innovation Hub in Philippines

IBM Philippines has opened a new hub in the country that will focus on providing hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence (AI) services to Japanese businesses.

In a statement on Tuesday, the local unit of the global brand said it had opened the Japan Innovation Hub as part of the expansion of the IBM Philippine Client Innovation Center (CIC) .

“The Japan Innovation Hub is part of IBM’s growing global network of IBM Client Innovation Centers which provide a proven model for technology and skills growth, combining industry and process skills with solutioning expertise to deliver quality-assured remote delivery,” the company said.

The new hub offers Japanese clients consulting services related to the digitalization of the companies’ business processes and operations. These include hybrid cloud transformation, application management, supply chain, finance and procurement.

“We are supporting an increase in client demand by launching the Japan Innovation Hub, which builds on our hybrid cloud and AI capability in the Philippines, where we have a dedicated delivery team with strong technology skills, a passion for client innovation and a commitment to delighting clients,” IBM Consulting senior vice president and chief operating officer Kelly Chambliss said.

“IBM Japan Consulting is committed to further strengthen the tie with Philippines CIC to meet the continuous demand for digital transformation work for the success of our Japanese clients,” IBM Consulting Japan managing partner Hiroshi Katoh said.

Paul Burton, general manager of IBM in the Asia-Pacific, said in a recent virtual event that enterprises must consider pivoting digitally in order to ensure resiliency.

But as companies do so, he advised them to have a robust digital threat management system in place to safeguard their sensitive information.

“Businesses and governments need to think holistically about their technology architecture and don’t put themselves in a box where they can’t quickly evolve and adapt to the world because we know the world is going to continue to change,” he explained.
