Yellow alert up in Luzon grid

Grid operator National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) issued a yellow alert in the Luzon grid today, Dec. 1, due to thin power reserves.

In its advisory, NGCP said the grid would be under yellow aler from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“Five power plants are on forced outage, while three others are running on derated capacities, for a total of 2,115 MW unavailable to the grid,” it added.

A yellow alert is declared when power reserves fall below ideal levels.
