Roxas at DoTC to create synergy between departments, says FPI

The appointment of Manuel “Mar” Roxas II as head of the Department of Transportation and Communications is expected to create the necessary “synergies” to improve the local business environment, according to the Federation of Philippine Industries.

In a statement issued Thursday, FPI chairman Jesus Arranza said Roxas’ experience at the Department of Trade and Industry, which he headed in 2001, would allow him to make the appropriate decisions in relation to putting together the right transport infrastructure for the shipment of goods.

“President Aquino made the right choice in appointing Mr. Roxas to head DoTC. He knows the predicament of businessmen in transporting goods to different points in the country, being a former trade secretary. We are sure he will be able to put together trade and transportation and bring about the synergy that the business sector needs from the two agencies,” he explained.

He expressed hope that Roxas would be able to help address businesses’ complaints about high transport costs.
