Luzon grid on yellow alert on Nov 28

/ 02:58 PM November 28, 2022

Grid operator National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Luzon grid under red and yellow alerts today, Nov 28,  lasting for several hours due to thin power supply.

It, however, lifted the red alert, which was  supposed to be up from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., before noon when power generating capacity recovered.

NGCP said Luzon would remain under yellow alert from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

A yellow alert is declared when power reserves fall below ideal levels while a red alert is declared when supply is insufficient to meet demand,  which may result in rotating power interruptions.

The Department of Energy (DOE) said the following power plants are on forced outage: Calaca 2;
GNPower Mariveles 1; Sual 1; Sta. Rita Module 20 ; Masinloc 3, and San Buenaventura Power Plant.

The following facilities are running at derated or limited capacities: Masinloc 1; Masinloc 2 and Magat.

Both Sual 1 and Masinloc 3 went back online before lunchtime, it added.
