The local unit of Japanese multinational imaging corporation Canon Inc. has opened a new office in Cebu City, strengthening its presence in the Philippines and reaffirming its continued investment plans.
In a statement, Canon Marketing (Philippines) Inc. said it had opened in Cebu a new regional office, which adopts an open-concept workspace to provide its employees the mobility to interact and collaborate more freely and comfortably.
“Through the (Visayas Regional Office), Canon hopes to continue strengthening its closeness with the Filipino communities in the area and support them with the award-winning customer service that the company is known for,” said the company.
Customers can avail themselves of checkup, cleaning and repair services for their Canon cameras and lenses in the new office.
“It also compliments the already wide network of authorized service centers that are capable of checking and repairing Canon cameras, lenses, and printers,” the company added.
Earlier in September, Canon Philippines said it was looking toward future expansion in the country after achieving record growth in 2021.
“We see investments in improving sales channels such as e-commerce platforms and increasing our network of authorized service centers in the country,” said Canon Marketing (Philippines) Inc. president and CEO Anuj Aggarwal
Canon’s Philippine unit saw its net sales grow by 138 percent in 2021 compared with the previous year, led by gains in large format printers, laser printers and consumer printers.
Expanding middle class
“The biggest opportunity that we saw is the growing middle class and lower poverty rate, which ultimately leads to higher purchasing power. Since the majority of Filipinos now have access to the internet due to hybrid learning or hybrid work setup, our products have also become more relevant to many Filipinos and e-commerce paved the way for us to grow our online consumers,” said Aggarwal.
The Canon Philippines executive said that net sales growth was seen in provincial markets across the Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao regions.
“The Philippines remains to be a key player in Canon’s growth strategy in Asia. We’re proud of the fact that, since establishing (a local office) in 1996, Canon has grown to become a well-loved brand among consumers and businesses in the Philippines,” he added.
There are currently 13 service centers for Canon cameras in the Philippines, as well as 183 service centers for inkjet printers and 40 for laser printers.
