Geocycle collects all waste from the production like paper, films, liners, and hazardous waste from the daily operations at the MCC factory to their processing plant in Norzagaray, Bulacan. Through advanced processes and globally recognized technology, the waste will be used in the process of making building materials.

During the process, the mineral part of the waste replaces primary mineral materials (such as limestone, clay or iron) and the combustible part provides the energy needed for clinker production. As a result, 100% of the waste input is recycled and recovered without producing any residue. This contributes to a regenerative circular economy that closes resource cycles. This will reduce dependency on natural resources and it also leads to reduction in global CO2 emissions.

Among the many advantages compared to landfilling or incinerations are:

“This event is a strong message that we are delivering to our stakeholders that MCC is committed to continuously drive for a better tomorrow. We will continue to walk the talk, we will continue to build a better tomorrow for our employees, our environment, to our society and to the world,” Lars Schuetzenmeister, MCC President-Asia.

“Together with Geocycle Philippines we have analyzed all waste generated at our factory and set up a customized waste management solution to enable effective reuse and recycling. Our dedicated employees play an important role in the sorting and preparations for effective recycling”, Edmund Lim Seng Huat, General Manager MCC Philippines.

“At MCC we CARE about a better tomorrow, today. This statement embodies what MCC does every day to ensure a better future for all. We have a clear strategy on sustainability including our employees, our operations and the sustainable solutions we provide to our customers. We have set clear goals to decrease our carbon emissions by 30% by 2028 and to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. To achieve these goals great local initiatives like this agreement in the Philippines is crucial” says Ivan Lee, Head of Technical, R&D and Sustainability, ASIA in MCC.

“While other companies are searching for ways to increase their profits and make their processes more efficient, MCC is making a way to make a sustainable future for our next generations. This is really a momentous event not just for our country but to the entire world”, Atty. Edward Vanger Arriba, Department Head of BPLO Binan who awarded MCC for being a part of the Top 100 Business in Biñan.

MCC acknowledged Avery Dennison, one of their major raw material suppliers, during the event for introducing Geocycle to be their partner on their Sustainability and Waste Management programs.
