Philippine farm production rose by nearly 2 percent in the third quarter after recording contractions in the previous two quarters.
In a report, the Philippine Statistics Authority said agriculture production grew by 1.8 percent against a decline of 2.6 percent in the same period a year ago.
The value of agriculture and fishery production in the third quarter rose by 12.3 percent to P501.58 billion.
“In particular, the value of crops, livestock, and poultry production posted increments. Meanwhile, the value of fisheries production dropped during the period,” the PSA said.
Poultry posted the biggest increment at 6.4 percent, followed by livestock at 4 percent and crops at 1.8 percent. Fisheries declined by 4.2 percent.
