The Villar family’s Prime Asset Ventures Inc. (Pavi) said it would develop 21.27 megawatts (MW) of electricity to meet the expected increase in demand in the Visayan islands during the holidays.
Pavi said the initiative will be undertaken by its power companies, S.I. Power Corp. (Sipcor) and Camotes Island Power Generation Corp. (Campcor), which serve almost 60,000 households in Siquijor and Camotes Islands.
“We’re detecting an increase in demand due to the holiday season. Pavi through Sipcor and Campcor has built the necessary infrastructure to serve these previously underserved, and unelectrified Filipino households,” said Jose Rommel Orillaza, the president for Pavi’s power group.
Sipcor has a 20-year power supply agreement with Province of Siquijor Electric Cooperative Inc. It is delivering 12.86 MW of power through bunker-fired facilities.
Campcor has a 15-year supply deal with Camotes Electric Cooperative Inc. for 8.41 MW of power from its diesel plants.
