French tech firm vows no downtime for PH data hubs

Schneider Electric has developed a solution aimed at supporting the growth of data centers in the country, which saw a rapid adoption of digital platforms amid the pandemic.

The French technology company, in a recent statement, said its EcoStruxure serves as a platform to monitor and manage data centers to ensure optimal performance. A data center is a facility that stores critical applications and data.

The software provides cloud-based management and analytics to avoid downtime in the facilities that handle massive amounts of data, it explained.

“The requirements of each data center vary depending on the location, sources of availability, and business and consumer proximity so both the IT (information technology) infrastructure and software have been optimally designed,” Schneider Electric Philippines secure power director Abraham Lim said.
Schneider has also created a technology protecting equipment and critical data from power interruptions.

“Uninterrupted power supplies boost the productivity of communities while simultaneously reducing the expenses associated with deployment and use,” it explained.

Schneider said it has been beefing up its IT expertise in data centers amid the growing demand for faster internet connectivity.

According to real property expert Knight Santos Frank, the data center capacity in the country is projected to grow to 220 megawatts (MW) from the current 94 MW based on existing and potential projects. Firms such as Globe, PLDT and Converge have invested or are investing in data hubs as their operations expand.
