Isidro Consunji, chair and president of engineering conglomerate DMCI Holdings Inc. (DMC), was selected by the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) as its “MAP Management Man of the Year” for 2022, making him the second in his family to receive the prestigious award.
“The conferment of the award follows a thorough, stringent selection process. The distinction of ‘MAP Management Man of the Year’ has only been conferred forty-six times in the five-decade history of the award,” the business group said in a statement on Thursday.
MAP said the criteria for the award include integrity, leadership and management qualities, as well as the awardee’s contribution to nation-building and values formation.
The group also said they looked at an awardee’s effective stewardship within the confines of the highest standard of business and management practice.
MAP said Consunji was chosen for his business acumen and management qualities in transforming a private construction firm into one of the Philippines’ biggest and most resilient conglomerates.
He was also deemed worthy of the award because of his leadership role in DMCI’s substantial contributions to national development, job creation and income generation through huge investments in construction, real estate, mining, energy and water distribution.
The DMCI executive was also lauded for his firm commitment to developing, training and sustaining a Filipino management team and staff.
He was also cited for his generous contribution to education, particularly in the field of engineering and science, as well as his significant inputs in the form of innovative solutions to the housing problem of the Philippines.
