BOC prepares for influx of holiday packages

MANILA, Philippines – The Bureau of Customs-Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) and partner Customs Facility and Warehouse (CFW) operators have started preparing for the expected influx of packages during the holiday season.

According to a statement released on Friday, BOC-NAIA district collector Carmelita M. Talusan and other BOC officials met with representatives of logistics firm DHL Express Philippines last Tuesday to iron out the arrangements for the speedy release of parcels particularly in the months of September to December.

During the meeting, the BOC-NAIA said DHL country manager for the Philippines Nigel Lockett and head of operations Promod George had assured the agency they would add more personnel and continuously coordinate with the BOC-NAIA to ensure the speedy release and delivery of the holiday packages.

In the same statement, Talusan assured the public that the BOC had put in place proactive measures for the holiday season.

These, she said, included  the implementation of  extended working hours, 24/7 X-ray examinations, K9 sweeping, and expedited processing of clearances.

“The Bureau of Customs -NAIA will continue to be vigilant and committed in ensuring trade facilitation and implementing border protection initiatives against unsafe, dangerous, prohibited, and unregistered goods as directed by Customs Commissioner Yogi Filemon Ruiz,”  the BOC-NAIA added.
