Emirates wants to increase flights from the Philippines to Dubai as air travel continues treading a recovery path.

The number of additional flights would still depend on the government’s decision, Emirates Philippines country manager Saeed Abdulla Miran said in a media briefing on Friday in Mandaluyong.

“We are very much interested in adding capacity in the Philippines. It’s just the will of the government to give us extra frequencies, especially to Manila airport,” he said.

Miran said they were also open to providing service at two major airport projects, New Manila International Airport in Bulacan and Sangley Point International Airport in Cavite, once they start operations.

“We are always focused on delivering the best to our customers, to have the most reach,” he said.

Miran noted that Emirates had been seeing more forward-bookings for flights, with passengers having regained confidence in traveling after about two years of limited mobility.

“It is a good time because the country is opening up. The aviation industry is slowly recovering from the pandemic,” the airline official said.

Miran assured that the airline had “invested in measures and technologies to add … to the customer experience both on ground and onboard.”

“We have always, since day one, [doubled down on our] assurance [that the customers’ health and safety] are our top priorities,” he added.
