After reducing electricity rates for two consecutive months, listed power distributor Manila Electric Co. on Thursday announced an increase of P0.3907 per kilowatt-hour for September.
This brings the overall rate to P9.9365 per kWh from P9.5458 per kWh in August.
“For residential customers consuming 200 kWh, this is equivalent to an increase of around P78 in this month’s power bills,” said Meralco in a statement.
For this month, generation charge rose by P0.3581 per kWh to P6.9393 per kWh from P6.5812 per kWh.
Meralco attributed the increase to fuel costs and weaker Philippine peso.
