Many drivers don’t realize what big a role a car’s set of tires play in its overall performance. While a car’s body design and engine power have a lot to do with its performance, there are a lot of issues regarding safety, reliability and comfort that lies solely on how good one’s set of tires is.

It makes sense—after all, the tires are the only part of a vehicle that touches the ground.

With this in mind, Bridgestone tires recently launched two new models—the Potenza S001 and the Potenza Adrenalin RE002, which members of the media were allowed to test at the Clark International Speedway under the supervision of the Tuason Racing School team.

FEATURED STORIES

Although designed to survive and excel in the fast-paced environment of race car driving, the tires roll out the same level of performance when put through the everyday wear and tear of both city and out-of-town driving conditions they are subjected to in an everyday basis.

“Our group is dedicated to meeting the demands of consumers who love spirited driving. These new Potenza tires will surely capture the passion of drivers who strive to explore new driving limits,” said Marc Tagle, EVP-GM of the Philippine Allied Enterprises Corporation, the official distributor of Bridgestone tires in the country.

The Potenza S001 was created to maintain stability and achieve excellent performance and handling in both wet and dry conditions. According to its makers, its asymmetric design—with the tire’s inner tread pattern—makes it tuned for performance in wet. Its outer tread pattern, on the other hand, enhances handling in dry surfaces.

This optimized contact between car and road is what allows the Potenza S001 to achieve a more stable maneuverability, especially when cornering at high speeds.

The Potenza Adrenalin RE002, on the other hand, has an aggressive tread pattern with a new pulse groove that accelerates water drainage. The grooves of varying depths combined with a reinforced sidewall and shoulder structure enables the tire to hold its shape better in turning corners, minimizing distortion, while offering drivers a more direct steering feel.

All told, the two new tires are designed to bring pure driving pleasure to drivers-whether on the smooth surface of the race track or the challenging streets of Manila.
