International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) has launched a mobile application that can enable port users to monitor the movement of trucks, containers and vessels, which is expected to enhance their shipping experience.
In addition, the app enables users to view payment estimates from corresponding terminals in advance.
“As the largest independent port operator across six continents, ICTSI is leveraging digital platforms to bring new levels of interactivity and supply chain visibility to our stakeholders. From shipper to vessel and vessel to consignee, ICTSI looks to provide the most transparent and most visible logistics process while maintaining our shipping line neutrality,” ICTSI group chief information officer Brian Hibbert said.
The ICTSI app seeks to streamline updates regarding the container shipment and provide information to users real-time. This can be through email or mobile messages.
The app, which is accessible via web, is available for iOS and Android users.
“We are focused on our customers’ success and building a strong foundation for these services that not only allow us to deliver these services now but also enabling us to respond to our customers and deliver more services quickly in the future,” Hibbert said.
In the first half, the Razon-led port operator saw its net earnings climb by 50 percent to $294.5 million from $196.7 million a year ago, thanks to better volumes and higher topline figures.
Consolidated volume in the first semester improved by 5 percent to 5.75 million twenty-foot equivalents (TEUs) from 5.46 million TEUs in the same period last year.
Revenues from its global port operations improved by 20 percent to $1.06 billion in the first six months. Its financing charges and other expenses, meanwhile, were up 30 percent to $88.9 million for the period.
