Online job platform JobStreet sees more job opportunities in computer and information technology (IT), health care and medical, education and telecommunications as these sectors showed growth and recovery during the pandemic.

In its “Job Outlook Report 2022: The Rise to Recovery,” JobStreet said these industries have “recovered to prepandemic levels” in terms of demand for employment. The report analyzed data from 2021, including job ad and application trends related to full-time positions in selected industries and specializations.

It noted the digital industry, especially computer and IT, has been thriving given the popularity of online platforms and as the pandemic restricted the movement of people. Software developers and other related jobs were in demand as job ads rose by 83.3 percent, JobStreet said.

“As these companies embraced digitalization and further shifted to digital platforms, the demand for professionals in the industry soared. Moreover, the increase in these specialized positions also equates to a higher salary,” the study noted.

Job postings for nurses up

JobStreet said conducting online classes also meant more opportunities for professionals to work from home.

Its data showed that over 97 percent of job ads related to the education sector were entry-level and junior executive posts.

Job postings for nurses, meanwhile, were up 45.3 percent given the increasing demand for health-care services.

“Needless to say, the health-care and medical sector grew exponentially because of the pandemic and will continue to grow even after as more and more people now give greater importance to personal health and well-being,” JobStreet said.

The need for consistent internet connectivity also translated to job opportunities in the telecommunications sector. Most of the job postings were for junior executive positions and sales and marketing, the study noted.

“It’s been our mission to guide our jobseekers and hirers on how to thrive in the Philippine job market. We hope that through this report, they will be able to evaluate and recalibrate their career and hiring plans as needed to grow in their profession of choice or to retain and attract talents in the long run,” JobStreet country manager Philip Gioca said.
