Exciting retreats, breathtaking views

We are all guilty of it: stopping on our tracks or pausing even while in the middle of something important because all of a sudden, right ahead of us is a view that is just far too gorgeous to not preserve in a photo. From fiery sunsets to twinkling city skylines, no person in the world can probably resist admiring such a breathtaking scene.

Having a scenic view is always a great come on when picking out an address. Property developers always highlight this advantage because it gives would-be homeowners a feel of the place. It helps future residents imagine how each day would be like waking up and coming home to a particular development.

We take a look at some spots the world over with the best views. Whether it’s the gorgeous sunset or famous landmarks that they get to see day in and day out, we can only imagine how lucky residents at these places must feel as they are afforded such extraordinary scenes any time they want.

Siem Reap, Cambodia

One place that is always on the itinerary when in Siem Reap, Cambodia, is Phnom Bakheng. One of the oldest temples in the Angkor Archeological Park, this temple mountain gives a magnificent view of the setting sun over Angkor Wat. Homes, hotels and resorts are just a bicycle ride away from such a magical spectacle.

Tourists and locals alike troop to the area as early as 4 p.m. to get a good spot where they can catch a glimpse of the sunset—the place can get crowded. Getting to the top requires a bit of trekking but getting to watch the setting sun on one side of the horizon and the rising moon on the other end is all worth it.

Santorini, Greece

They say Santorini, Greece, is blessed with such unmatched sunsets that you can marvel at it wherever you are on the island. There are preferred places, though, such as the caldera villages of Imerovigli, Fira and Oia. According to the website Greeka.com, Oia has “the most beautiful views since you can see the sun literally diving in the sea.”

Those who wish to revel at Santorini’s breathtaking sunset away from the crowds (the amount of people can get overwhelming, they say) can do so in the privacy of the island’s most notable hotels that offer the best views: Charisma Suites and Canaves Oia Epitome in Oia; Astra Suites, Cavo Tagoo, Andronis Concept Wellness Resort, and Grace Hotel in Imerovigli; Celestia Grand in Fira; and Homeric Poems in Firostefani.
