BIZ BUZZ: Survey says…

/ 04:35 AM May 11, 2022

It wasn’t as popular as the informal “cup survey” conducted by convenience store chain 7-Eleven, but the version conducted by publicly listed Fruitas Holdings Inc. can now claim to be one of the most consistent in town in terms of accuracy.

That’s because, for the third presidential elections in a row, the cup survey by the growing food and beverage firm of entrepreneur Lester Yu is on track to have predicted the winner of the race that shapes the country’s fortunes every six years.

Yu told Biz Buzz earlier that Fruitas’ cup survey—where customers get to select cups for the beverages they buy bearing the images of presidential aspirants Manila Mayor Isko Moreno, Sen. Panfilo Lacson, Sen. Manny Pacquiao, former Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Leni Robredo—correctly predicted the results of the 2010 and 2016 presidential elections.

Barring any major changes in the Commission on Elections’ tally, 2022 will make it three in a row for Fruitas. And as they say in statistics, “two may be a coincidence, but three is a trend.”

FEATURED STORIES

The results from over 200 stores in the food and beverage chain show Marcos Jr. leading the monthly cup tally, accounting for a cumulative 40.6 percent of the cups sold from the start of the survey last December all the way until this month.

He was followed by the Vice President, also consistently in the second spot with 35.4 percent, during the same time frame.

The results for Moreno (10.4 percent), Lacson (7 percent) and Pacquiao (6.6 percent) were also interesting to watch.

Of course, the big caveat is that this is just an informal survey done in the spirit of fun (and maybe if customers just wanted to collect all five cups). But the results speak for themselves.

As for Fruitas, Yu said the firm would continue with its mission of providing quality affordable food options to the markets it serves, hopefully, with more branches in the the near future.
