Filipino nurses work abroad for a variety of reasons, but mostly to gain world-class experience, exposure to the golden standards of Nursing care, and to eventually increase their income potential so they could give their families a better quality of life. However, applying for an ideal job in international hospitals, including those in the US, is a tedious process that entails effort, time, and money. Employing the service of a reputable manpower agency will get the job done…easily and stress-free.
White Glove Placement, Inc., a Joint Commission Certified agency committed to providing quality services, with appropriately credentialed and qualified staff in all clinical specialties has been offering foreign nurses the chance to make it in America through its nursing sponsorship program. Since its inception in 1995, it has evolved into being the largest recruiter of nurses and has successfully placed thousands of qualified staff in hospitals, nursing homes, ambulatory care, correctional facilities, group homes, schools, home health and other specialties.
The agency offers a variety of highly sought-after positions for RNs, LPNs, CNAs, and other healthcare workers in some of the most prestigious health care systems in the US. Those seeking new and exciting experiences have the option of choosing travel nursing, per diem, long or short-term assignments in the USA.
Below are Filipino nurses who have availed of White Glove Placement’s services, and have now been making strides in their nursing career. Let’s check out their stories.
Pamela D. RN
Pamela is a Registered Nurse from Sorsogon, Philippines and worked for 6 years in the Philippines before her aunt suggested for her to apply in nursing agencies that can help her work abroad through sponsorship. Out of all the agencies she applied for, Pamela said White Glove was the only one who reached out back to her, which she was thankful for. She said the application process was easy as she applied online, and the process took only about one year.
She arrived in New York in 2005 and started working as a Med Surge nurse for one of New York’s hospitals. Adjusting to her job in the US was not that hard for her, given Nursing experience back home. In fact, what she considers as the biggest challenge was the language barrier between her and her colleagues and even patients. She also admitted having experienced culture shock on the onset of her job because of the lifestyle, practices, and values of her colleagues compared to the people she dealt with in the Philippines.
It’s all good, Pamela said, as she has not only adjusted but also adapted to her new environment. Currently, she has a total of 11 years of Med Surge nursing experience, two years of oncology nursing, and now works in Telemetry.
Pamela still misses her mom though as she is the youngest of seven children, one of the challenges she must live with. She is now happily married with a seven-year-old son and during her days off, she enjoys spending quality time with the family, relaxing, and watching cartoons on TV with her son or tuning in to her favorite Korean dramas.
Her biggest advice to other nurses? “Keep an open mind, expect separation anxiety, but know that you will be making a difference by doing what you need to provide for your family back home,” she said. And when asked if she would recommend White Glove to other nurses she simply said: “Yes. 150% to 250% yes!”
She also shared about her niece who just signed a contract with White Glove and is waiting for her visa to the US as well. Her nephew is also waiting to process his papers. Given this privilege, Pamela is truly grateful to White Glove for helping her and her family enjoy this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Sheila M. RN
Sheila is another Filipino nurse who was introduced to White Glove by her nursing friend. She arrived in the US in 2011. Like most Filipinos, she pursued the Nursing profession because of her mother and eventually learned to love the career as it gives her the opportunity to take care of people, which she loves doing. In fact, she is so hardworking that she holds four different jobs and works six days a week. On her day off she enjoys relaxing and unwinding at home.
She attested to the manpower agency’s efficiency as her application process was fast and she received her Visa in only 8 months. Having 16 years of experience as a nurse in the Philippines, Sheila started as an ER nurse when she first arrived in New York and worked as an HHA on the weekends for White Glove. Now she works as an OR nurse.
At first, Sheila’s biggest challenge was adjusting to the rigors of working in a massive and highly advanced hospital, when she used to work in smaller facilities in the Philippines. For future Filipino nurses who are interested in moving to New York, she has this to say: “Start from the bottom and work hard to get to the position that you want and deserve. Then continue to be efficient, hardworking, and have dedication to your Nursing career—these are keys to success.”
Hasmin S. RN
Some applications take a longer time but not because of the manpower agency but because of complications involving visas. The case of Hasmin, a Filipino nurse, is one clear example, as she waited for six years before finally arriving in New York City. She admittedly faced issues with her Visa and testified how helpful White Glove was throughout the process, thus she highly recommends it.
Hasmin pursued her passion of becoming a Nurse because she wanted to be of service to the people in her community, as she loves being able to help others as well as the job security and opportunities abroad that this profession offers her. Having 15 years of nursing experience (specializing in Gynecology and Obstetrics), she now works in the Geriatric care field.
On her rest days, Hasmin enjoys sleeping and watching films. She has a passion for writing and enjoys reading books. She misses her family the most, but she is working out to bring her family with her to New York soon. “Don’t be afraid of the struggle. Any job can be stressful but as you adapt to the new working environment, everything will work out fine,” she advised. For her, it is important to do anything one can to update and upgrade one’s skillset. “Always protect yourself, your patients, and your license. At the end of the day, you’re still a nurse and you must do the job,” she added.
Clearly, a reliable and trustworthy manpower agency could help you reach your dreams quickly and worry-free. White Glove respects and values individual contributions and is fully supportive of each Filipino nurse’s professional goals. White Glove offers unique opportunities, career advancements, and reliable partnerships, and invites you to experience its authentic manpower service as it looks forward to being of service to all Filipino Nurses with big dreams.
