Globe was awarded Best Corporate Governance (CG) in Asia by London’s Ethical Boardroom under the Telecoms category, with Globe emerging as the only Philippine company to make it to the list of awardees this year.

This is the second consecutive year that Globe has been awarded the title of Best Corporate Governance by the London-based digital magazine. Ethical Boardroom is a bi-monthly publication that delivers in-depth coverage and critically astute analysis of global governance issues.

“We are honored to receive this recognition for two years in a row.  To continuously earn the trust of all our stakeholders, especially our customers, corporate governance is deeply embedded in our business operations and corporate culture.  We are very happy that all our efforts in maintaining good corporate governance are being recognized,” said Ernest Cu, Globe President and CEO.

He added, “Guided by our Purpose, we will continue to ensure that our corporate governance practices are widely experienced.  These include the principles of fairness, transparency, integrity, sustainability, and accountability.”

The Ethical Boardroom recognized Globe as one of the companies in Asia with “outstanding leadership from boards who have raised the bar to ensure that strong corporate governance plays an essential part in protecting and enhancing long-term value for all stakeholders.”

Together with other publicly-listed companies and state-owned enterprises, Globe went through a challenging two-pronged evaluation exercise, which consisted of a due-diligence process and a panel of luminaries in the relevant global governance sphere who serve as adjudicators.

“CG has been instrumental in supporting the growth of Globe’s businesses. Our CG culture empowers us to continue to provide value to our stakeholders even amid trying times,” said Marisalve Ciocson-Co, Globe Chief Compliance Officer, Senior Vice President – Law and Compliance, and Assistant Corporate Secretary.

As part of its dedication to CG, Globe’s annual Integrated Report is aligned with the principles espoused in the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS), the Integrated Annual Corporate Governance Report (i-ACGR) of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and other key sustainability reporting frameworks.

Ethical Boardroom shared that the awards program is a vital part of its continuing mission to elevate corporate governance standards globally. This year’s selection criteria considered 120 governance factors with a set of key performance indicators alongside six CG pillars, including board leadership, board composition, board governance, shareholder rights, engagement, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG).

“This sophisticated scoring methodology strikes a critical balance between quantitatively-driven analysis based on correlations between governance factors and key financial metrics and the qualitative aspects of global governance standards and best practice in each region,” the Ethical Boardroom said.
