The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said it had provided livelihood kits to a total of 400 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) that have been affected by the pandemic.
These kits were provided to MSMEs in Mandaluyong City and Taguig City, according to two separate statements from the DTI sent on Wednesday. These were given under the agency’s Livelihood Seeding Program-Negosyo Serbisyo Sa Barangay, or LSP-NSB.
“Among the assistance provided were gift cards worth P8,000, assorted products donated by Alaska Milk Corp., and other assistance covered by the LSP-NSB program,” one of the statements read.
A total of 54,930 MSMEs are targeted under the program for next year, higher than the 41,200 target for 2021, according to the DTI’s official website.
The kits, which range from P5,000 to P8,000, will depend on the assessment of the needs of the affected MSMEs.
Beneficiaries
The beneficiaries of the program may also include sole proprietors, cooperatives or sectoral associations in identified barangays, including those in local communist armed conflict-affected areas and vulnerable communities such as the indigenous people.
The DTI also said that priority assistance would be given to small firms that were affected by either natural or man-made calamities, including health disasters like the pandemic.
