It is no secret that Japan is one of my favorite travel destinations.
Whether it’s for a work-related trip or for a vacation with family and friends and whether it’s a stay in the uber-dynamic Tokyo, nostalgic Kyoto or serene Hokkaido, I always welcomed the chance to visit The Land of the Rising Sun. And I know that quite a lot of you feel the same. There’s just something about this country, its culture and everything else Japanese that seems to captivate and charm us.

I truly miss admiring the iconic landmarks in Japan. Two of my top favorites are Kinkakuji Temple and Himeji Castle. Also known as the Golden Pavilion, Kinkakuji is a Zen temple in northern Kyoto that has been the city’s symbol for hundreds of years.
Himeji Castle, meanwhile, has earned the distinction of being a Unesco World Heritage site. Located in Hyogo Prefecture, it is known as White Heron Castle for its elegant and white appearance. The castle is highly praised for its design and construction method.

It is not alien to us how Japanese design always brings quality, ingenuity, innovation and not to mention timeless beauty to the front. Especially in recent times, it has even gone global and served as an inspiration for many. One property developer that has caught on is Federal Land Inc. through The Grand Midori Ortigas.

Designed to be a Zen-inspired sanctuary in the middle of the city, The Grand Midori Ortigas takes its name from the Japanese word which originally represented “freshness” and denotes the color of fresh shoots, new leaves or young plants. It also connotes beauty and creativity. Architect Paul Noritaka Tange, chairman of Tange Associates, came up with a weave pattern for The Grand Midori’s facade, an expression of delicate beauty in Japanese architecture.
The weave patterns serve a purpose beyond aesthetics. By incorporating Japanese sensibility and answering the call for sustainability, the intricate weaving patterns make the high-rise comfortable to look at despite its height. “Those horizontal and vertical elements act as a sunshade device as well,” explained Tange. It also gives a sense of scale to the building, which makes it look less overwhelming despite its volume. “I’m not making the building smaller (but) tried to give the impression so that it is more approachable.”
The Grand Midori Ortigas offers a mix of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom variations.
The two-tower Zen-inspired condominium will house 908 units, with a mix of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom variations. Amenities are carefully curated and beautifully integrated into the development to allow for a meaningful and balanced lifestyle for its future residents. Indoor amenities include a lounge area, fitness area, yoga room, game room, study lounge, conference room, children’s playroom and multipurpose room.
