2GO boosts operations, VisMin freight services

Integrated logistics company 2GO Group Inc. announced the enhancement of its route network to support the essential delivery of goods and services as the economy reopens.

In a statement on Tuesday, 2GO said this included improvements to its roll-on, roll-off passenger trips and guaranteed same-day sailing schedules. Moreover, it was expanding its freight services in Visayas and Mindanao “to ensure an unhampered flow of essential goods in the regions amid the pandemic.”

“By revamping our routes and schedules, we have instituted additional reliability and voyage frequency in our freight operations through day-definite departures,” 2GO vice president and head of sea solutions Dan Fernan said.

“We are now in a strong position to offer speed for faster lead times to allow our customers to improve supply chains, lower inventory costs and increase market responsiveness,” he added.

2GO has been investing in upgrades and optimizing operations since the Sy family’s SM Investments Corp. took a controlling stake in the company last June.

The logistics giant said that fast-moving consumer goods and essential supplies, such as food, pharmaceutical products and liquids are transported from Manila to Visayas and Mindanao four times a week via major freight hubs in Cebu, Iloilo, Bacolod and Cagayan de Oro.

In addition, 2GO expanded its port coverage to include Tagbilaran City in Bohol with weekly services, and with additional frequencies to Davao and General Santos which were doubled from twice a month to weekly calls via Iloilo. INQ
