MPTC sets up spinoff for mobility services, digital solutions businesses

Expressway operator Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) is creating a new unit for its various support businesses and digital solutions.

Called MPT Mobility, the entity will have seven businesses, including billboard advertising, an online parking booking service and MPTC’s electronic toll collection system Easytrip Services Corp.

“What MPT Mobility has to offer addresses a variety of customer needs and provides them with operation and life conveniences via a digital interface. These digital solutions are all about improving mobility for the Filipino people,” MPT Mobility president and general manager Raul Ignacio said in a statement.

Several of MPT Mobility’s businesses provide allied services to MPTC’s tollroads, which include the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx), Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway and Cavite Laguna Expressway.

It cited NLEx Drive & Dine, a commercial hub with restaurants, gift shops and discount outlets and One Hub, the tollway group’s centralized customer response service.

Easytrip is the most identifiable brand as the account management company of MPTC’s electronic toll collection system.

Beyond this, Easytrip wants to be a “solutions provider and integrator of innovative smart mobility solutions for road merchants, logistical firms, vehicle and transport-related entrepreneurs and private motorists.”

MPT Mobility will also house Dibz, a smart parking services group that offers prebooked parking and valet services, while Spot On Advertising handles roadside billboards.

MPT Mobility also offers outsourced manpower for general and maintenance services, roadway systems products, traffic and auxiliary works on road network operations under Southbend Express Services Inc.

With over 900 personnel already deployed, Southbend caters to a varied client base such as toll road operations and water services, the company said.

Finally, MPT Mobility’s business development unit will focus on “diversification and innovation” for projects such as fiber optics communication interface, smart cities and intermodal terminals.

“Digitalization is inevitable. We needed to be at the forefront of leveraging its adoption and transcend our core tollways business using the latest digital technology,” Ignacio said. INQ
