As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to wreak havoc to the country, Shawarma Shack is responding to the huge challenge by supporting Filipinos who are bravely doing their jobs to alleviate the sufferings of their kababayans.
Interestingly, it is not only the conglomerates that have risen to the occasion to help alleviate the sufferings of the Filipinos especially the common folks.
Walther Uzi Buenavista, president and CEO of Shawarma Shack Group, is one entrepreneur belonging to the small, medium enterprise (SME) category who has responded to the call by doing his share in giving hope and support to the common people who are naturally bearing the brunt of the pandemic. “I believe it is the civic duty of every Filipino to help in their own little way lessen the impact of the pandemic,” he said.

Thus, Buenavista and his team have joined several humanitarian activities in partnership with the government and non-governmental organizations in its humanitarian response missions during the offshoot of disasters and calamities. In appreciation of their efforts, the Philippine Coast Guard cited Shawarma Shack for providing the logistical support to the first responders and donating relief goods.
With climate change and global warming posing more challenges to every country around the world, the Philippines is not spared from the different disasters that hit the country from typhoons, volcanic eruption, and the onslaught of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic. Moreover, the government’s limited resources poses a huge challenge to help the millions of Filipinos to withstand the severe consequences of the disasters.
Shawarma Shack responded to the call sending truckloads of food, water and other supplies to the areas severely hit by typhoons. These areas include Bicol, Cagayan Valley, and Rizal province.
First, Shawarma Shack went to the communities particularly in Tanauan City, after the eruption of Taal Volcano. Company volunteers delivered water and relief goods to over 1,000 families. The mission was special because Tanauan is the childhood hometown of Patricia Buenavista, Walther’s better half.
“We are glad that Shawarma Shack has brought smiles to the people by the essential items we have given them,” Buenavista shared.
Last March 2020, the country experienced a crisis of massive proportions courtesy of the COVID-19. Aside from the loss of human lives, the pandemic dealt a heavy blow to the economy causing closures of several businesses and creating huge unemployment.
Buenavista and Shawarma Shack again responded to the call to help Filipinos who are reeling from the impact of the pandemic.
This time, it reached out to the Philippine National Police (PNP), particularly the frontliners who are risking their lives to ensure peace and order during the pandemic. Shawarma Shack turned over hundreds of sacks of rice to the PNP led by PNP Chief, General Guillermo Eleazar at the PNP National Headquarters in Camp Crame, Quezon City. In appreciation of its support to the PNP, Eleazar cited Shawarma Shack for its important contributions in supporting the government to fight the pandemic.
“In these difficult times, partnership between the government and private sector is important in hurdling the pandemic,” the PNP Police chief emphasized.
