Small and medium enterprises from the Cordillera region registered P66.57 million in cash and booked sales in a recent trade fair, with some manufacturers running out of goods to sell before even displaying their products.
According to data from the Department of Trade and Industry, the recent Impakabsat 2011 trade fair generated P16.86 million in cash sales during the fair, plus P48.48 million in booked orders. Transactions that were still under negotiation amounted to P236,060.
Among the products showcased in the fair, furniture and furnishings chalked up the most revenues, with almost P53.55 million in total sales.
Bamboocraft contributed another P5.69 million in sales, and woodcraft an additional P1.46 million in revenues, and gifts, housewares, and decors another more than P1.19 million in sales.
Processed food items were likewise a huge hit, with sales hitting P3.45 million. A supplier of indigenous bignay wine, for example, ran out of supplies even before properly displaying its products, as buyers rushed to snap up the wine after sampling it at the supplier’s booth.
In terms of product source, Abra carted the largest haul at P56.66 million, P10.02 million of which were cash sales. The remaining P46.65 million were for booked orders.
Benguet posted the second largest sales at P2.35 million. Of this total, P2.27 million represented cash sales, while P54,300 represented booked orders.
On third spot was the Mountain Province, with sales reaching almost P1.87 million, of which P1.53 million were booked orders. Cash sales amounted to P281,440, while deals that were still under negotiation came up to P51,760.
