Cebu Pacific hits 95 percent vaxx rate for pilots, cabin crew

MANILA, Philippines—Cebu Pacific, the country’s largest budget airline, has achieved a 95 percent vaccination rate for pilots and cabin crew.

Cebu Pacific said in a statement on Monday (Aug. 30) that these employees had received their second coronavirus vaccine dose last Aug. 26 under the company’s employee vaccination program.

The remaining members of its workforce would receive their second dose by next month and Cebu Pacific expects to complete its employee inoculation program by October 2022.

“We are always excited to share updates about our very own vaccination initiative because health and safety are on top of everyone’s minds now,” Felix Lopez, vice president for people department at Cebu Pacific, said in the statement.

“It is our pleasure to keep doing what we can to ensure that our own people are protected, so our passengers will also be able to fly worry-free with us,” he added.

The carrier’s “COVID Protect” program is part of the Gokongwei Group’s initiative for all its business units. Cebu Pacific employees, their dependents and third-party workers received free COVID vaccine jabs.

Cebu Pacific earlier achieved a seven-star safety rating from airlineratings.com for its COVID-19 compliance. It continues to implement a multi-layered approach to safety as it endeavors to restore the public’s trust in air travel.

The budget airline is also the official partner of the Ingat-Angat, a private-sector led campaign that promotes safety measures and vaccination to help foster a nationwide economic recovery.

To date, it has transported over 16.5 million vaccine doses from abroad to the Philippines, on top of over eight million doses flown to 24 provinces across the country.
