Meanwhile, MHI (Philippines) Plant Services Corporation, its subsidiary company, supports power generation across the country including in Mindanao, where the company services boiler units to supplement intermittent renewable energy in the region.
Most recently in June, the company’s plant services team stepped up to address brownouts and restore power in Luzon, by fixing a boiler tube leak at Pagbilao Power Station within less than two days, in addition to dispatching engineers to other power plants to support outages at the same time. The team’s quick response to customer needs and excellence in executing after sales services, supports the crucial need for energy security in the Philippines.

Through decades of operations and maintenance and plant knowledge, the company developed TOMONITM, a suite of digital solutions that leverages advanced analytics, adaptive control technology, artificial intelligence and machine learning to make power plants smarter. Supporting decarbonization in the energy sector
Touted as the second best investment destination for renewable energy in Southeast Asia according to a report by HSBC Global Research, the Philippines has a huge potential to reduce carbon emissions through renewable sources, such as biomass, geothermal, solar, wind, and hydropower.
To drive the transition to cleaner sources such as geothermal, Mitsubishi Power is currently supplying and installing a new set of steam turbine components for the Makban geothermal power plant in Laguna to update the facility.
Beyond renewables, there is a need to reduce the environmental impact of existing coal plants to drive decarbonization. Air quality control systems (AQCS) are able to do this through pollutant control technologies that purify exhaust gas emissions. Globally, Mitsubishi Power has implemented over 5,000 AQCS units to capture and contain pollutants, including units in the Philippines.
