SBCorp announces appointment of new board member

MAKATI —The Small Business Corporation (SBCorp) announced the appointment of Voltaire Magpayo to the board of directors. This brings the number of board members to eight.

New board member Voltaire Magpayo joins SBCorp with over 10 years of experience in strategic business planning, supply and value chain management, and financial management, furthering SBCorp’s mission to champion micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the country.

Magpayo is an award-winning entrepreneur, a business mentor, and a strong advocate for Filipino MSMEs. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the San Beda University, and his Master’s Degree in Applied Business Economics from the University of Asia and the Pacific. He is a certified franchise executive, and was previously a consultant on business development at various government agencies.

“SBCorp is pleased to welcome Mr. Magpayo. He has demonstrated exceptional commitment towards empowering local businesses, and this is pivotal as we continue to support the recovery of thousands of MSMEs and expand our impact,” said Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Undersecretary and SBCorp Acting Chairman Blesila Lantayona.

SBCorp is the implementing agency of the Bayanihan CARES, an interest-free and collateral-free financing program that aims to assist MSMEs recover from the adverse effects of the pandemic. This is part of the National Government’s strategy for inclusive economic recovery and for safe access to credit by MSMEs across the country especially those in far-flung areas and/or those that belong to the marginalized market segments. To date, SBCorp has assisted 28,000 MSMEs nationwide through the Bayanihan CARES, corresponding to a total loan disbursement of PhP3.9 billion.
