The value of exercise, or any physical activity for that matter, may not have become more pronounced until the worldwide lockdown in 2020. When gyms and fitness studios were closed for the past year, many realized the importance of a walk, or a quick sweat session for fitness and for one’s well-being.
Following safety protocols, including wearing of masks and practicing social distancing, we’re sure you’re excited to sweat it out outdoors while soaking up some sun. To inspire you to keep moving, we’ve listed a few workout routines that you can try the next time you roll out your mat or lace up your trainer shoes. You can access these videos on The Good Fit Playlist of SMDC on Youtube so you can save your favorite vids and find new ones.
A Quick 15-Minute Lower Body Exercise
Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, this routine has something new to offer as it combines both basic and advanced moves, from a simple squat to a more advanced sumo squat. That sounds similar, but check the video and see how big of a difference a change in stance can do to your quads. You’ll definitely feel the burn the next day.
10-Minute Ab Workout
This may be the longest 10 minutes for you, but as seen on the video, a better surrounding can alleviate the sting of those crunches. Take a page from what is shown in the clip and roll out your mat in a park and do the routine outdoors. Who knows, you may even chance upon a neighbor who’s trying a similar routine. You can try to break a new personal plank record together!
20-Minute Yoga Routine
Have you always wanted to try yoga, but were intimidated by the seemingly complicated poses? This 20-minute yoga routine may be right up your alley. Just a heads-up — this is not your usual yoga class. The exercise employs yoga poses, but it is paced like a regular workout. So, beginners, you don’t need to be overwhelmed! This is best done in the early hours of the morning, just when your joints and muscles need some stretches. Try doing the routine outside, or, if possible, in an urban park as shown in the video.
20-Minute Full-Body HIIT
This high-intensity interval training workout may look complicated, but it’s easy enough. You can even do it on the grass. It has crunches, hip dips, and skater jumps — moves that you can try out with a well-kept bed of green grass as your company. What is perhaps more enticing about this routine is that its moves aren’t repeated, so if you find a certain move difficult, don’t worry as you’ll never have to do it again. You get to break a sweat without getting bored.
The Value of the Great Outdoors
While we may only be forced to work out within our neighborhoods for now, the value of having access to a vast outdoor space anytime you need one is never a bad thing. If anything, the past year only emphasized how big a benefit is having outdoor space in one’s neighborhood. And having it within the metropolis? Now, that is a place you can definitely call home.
At SMDC Light 2 Residences, a hectare-wide urban park is situated right in the middle of the condominium, providing residents ample space to stretch and do a workout outdoors. It’s a welcome respite for city dwellers. After all, who wouldn’t want some greenery as their backdrop when learning a new workout routine? Having nature close to you while exercising is a welcome break for the mind.
SMDC Light 2 Residences provides these benefits and more. Its urban park boasts a garden, a playground, a yoga area, and an Olympic-sized pool. And if you miss going to the gym, a well-equipped fitness gym awaits you.
