Dito Telecommunity is racing to complete its network rollout in time for its second audit by July 8 this year.
Dito has committed to cover 51 percent of the population and offer a minimum average internet speed of 55 megabits per second for its next annual review.
Dito chief technology officer Rodolfo Santiago said the company already had over 3,000 cell sites and they were confident of passing the upcoming test.
“We are about ready to complete the minimum 51 percent population coverage,” he said during a briefing on Friday. Dito is opening in 23 new areas by Saturday. These are Dagupan City and Manaoag in Pangasinan, Magalang in Pampanga, Pandi in Bulacan, La Paz Tarlac, Calauan and Victoria Laguna, Taysan and Balete in Batangas, Bacolod City and Pulupandan in Negros Occidental.
It is also opening services in Moalboal, Bogo, San Remigio, Sogod, Alcantara, Santander, Ginatilan in Cebu; Kidapawan City and Makilala in North Cotabato; Santa Cruz and Bansalan in Davao del Sur, and Malybalay City in Bukidnon.
Dito, backed by businessman Dennis A. Uy and China Telecom, is rolling out in new areas as it seeks to hit two million subscribers this year.
It has so far gained 890,000 subscribers since its market debut on March 8.
Dito has committed to reach 84 percent of the population and offer average internet speed of 55 mbps up to 2024. INQ
