Vivant, partners commit to build 15-MW Pampanga plant
Vivant Energy Corp. and its partners are building a 15-megawatt peaking power plant in Pampanga to provide ancillary services that will help maintain the stability of the power grid.
In particular, the power plant will provide reserve power to secure continuous electricity services in the franchise area of Pampanga 2 Electric Cooperative (Pelco 2).
Porac
The project, consisting of three diesel-fed generators, each with a capacity of 5.76 MW, will rise in Porac town.
Developing the project is La Pampanga Energy Corp. (LPEC), a consortium of Vivant Energy, its wholly owned subsidiary Amberdust Holding Corp., and Gigawatt Power Inc. Vivant owns 50 percent of LPEC.
Also, the project is part of a 15-year power supply agreement between LPEC and Pelco 2 that was signed on July 10.
Recovery
“We look forward to becoming part of the recovery and growth of the province of Pampanga by providing stable and reliable power to Pelco 2,” said Emil Andre Garcia, executive vice president and chief operating officer of Vivant Energy.
“As we expand our power generation portfolio, we remain committed to provide adaptable and forward-looking solutions, not just to the electric cooperatives that are our customers, but also with the communities they serve,” Garcia said in a statement.
Palawan
As partners, Vivant Energy and Gigawatt Power are also providing electricity supply in Puerto Princesa, Culion and Busuanga in Palawan.
Also, they are building a 23-MW power plant in Bantayan Island, Cebu.
The Bantayan facility will involve two bunker-fired generators at 7.5 MW each and three similar units at 2.8 MW each. It will serve the energy needs of three towns on the island, namely Bantayan, Santa Fe and Madridejos. INQ
