COVID19 control: Added protection for the workplace

Perhaps no disease in the history of humanity has caused so much dread, anguish and disruption than COVID19. With no cure in sight yet, the fear of catching COVID19 is understandable. In just over a year, the disease, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, has claimed the lives of 3.3 million people worldwide.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) very recently revised its guidance on the principal mode by which people are infected with SARS-Cov-2 to include, “inhalation of very fine respiratory droplets and aerosol particles.”   The droplets, released by infectious people as they breathe, speak, cough, and sneeze, carry the virus and transmit infection.  The CDC added, “the smallest very fine droplets, and aerosol formed when these fine droplets rapidly dry, are small enough that they can remain suspended in the air for minutes to hours.”

Air Intellipure DFS Technology

It may take a while until COVID19 is brought under control. In the meantime, companies are walking the tightrope between the health and safety of their employees and survival of the business.  For companies where a work from home set-up is not applicable or where a percentage of their workforce need to work at the office, it has become imperative to secure the workplace and protect employees and customers from the potentially fatal virus.

Recognizing the importance of clean air in mitigating the transmission of COVID-19, the Philippine Department of Labor and Employment recently released Department Order 224-21 that spells out rules for private establishments and public transport.

Intellipure Ultrafine 468, captures and eliminates air particles down to .007 microns in size in areas up to 150sqm with ceiling heights of 3 meters

Section 4-B of the order, signed by Sec. Silvestre Bello III last March 3, states, “Where ventilation is greatly recirculated or accessed to outside air is not feasible, filters such as HEPA filtration air purifiers can be used to clean recirculated air, provided that the unit is adequate for the size of the room in which it is installed in. Ensure proper maintenance by following manufacturer recommendations of these devices.”

Clearly, to tackle spread of the virus in the workplace would mean ensuring effective ventilation and the use of airborne infection controls such as high efficiency air filtration. And in this increasingly polluted world, having pure and healthy air in the workplace comes from a tested and scientific process designed to eliminate toxic elements and harmful pathogens in the air.

Such is the technology behind the line of Intellipure air cleaners.

Protect the Workplace with Intellipure

What makes Intellipure significantly more beneficial than other brands? Inside every Intellipure is the patented and revolutionary Disinfecting Filtration System (DFS) Technology. The technology, developed using a US Military grant to combat germ warfare, has the unique ability to trap microorganisms such as bacteria, mold and viruses, reduce bioburden, and inhibit microorganism growth through a process called microbiostatic condition.

Each Intellipure air purifier underwent a series of stringent tests in the USA, Canada, and Germany to meet the highest standards of performance: the EN1822 and ASHRAE standards. This independently attests that Intellipure filters can capture particles down to .007 to a 99.99% effectivity – many times smaller than the standard advanced HEPA filters and to Cleanroom level standards for indoor environments.

In addition, the DFS technology has been proven to be effective in capturing and inactivating a proxy virus for SARS-CoV-2 in 10 minutes and allowing zero regrowth within 24 hours. The study was carried out by infection control expert Dr Syed Sattar, advisor to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the World Health Organization in an aerobiology chamber compliant with U.S. EPA guidelines.

Air Intellipure, exclusive distributor of Intellipure in the Philippines, offers a comprehensive line of Intellipure air purification solutions for any kind of space – from small offices to expansive open floor areas – and for any type of industry. In addition to portable units, Air Intellipure offers models that can be installed in the ceiling space or retrofitted to any HVAC system.

Intellipure air purifiers are already being used to improve indoor air quality and help prevent the spread of COVID19.  In the US, multinational bank JP Morgan Chase & Co has Intellipure purifiers installed in all its offices at its headquarters in New York. The New York Schools, Chicago Public Schools, and Syracuse City Schools chose Intellipure portable air purifiers because they provided the highest level of filtration with the least amount of disruption to classes.  Being plug and play allowed the schools to shift the units to areas where and when they are needed the most.

In the Philippines, the Belo Medical Group was among the first to invest in Intellipure purifiers, placing them in their clinics in Metro Manila as added protection for their medical team, support staff and patients.

The Other Ill Effects of Indoor Air Pollution & Contamination

Apart from COVID-19, the poor quality of air in the workplace can cause fatigue, lethargy, and the feeling of being unwell. Other warning signs could indicate unclean air in the workplace include: Dry nose, eyes and throat, or burning mucous membranes; coughing and/or sneezing; stuffy or runny nose; persistent headache; dizziness and nausea; bad mood; and forgetfulness.

Sickness caused by polluted and contaminated indoor air poses a serious threat to the well-being of any business establishment. This can exact long-term damage to any company’s day-to-day operations. Simply put, workers need to breathe clean, fresh, and filtered air to work at their optimum best.

Thanks to Air Intellipure, this is no longer just a pipe dream, but a reassuring reality.
