Expansion of Subic Freeport Expressway completed
Toll road operator NLEx Corp. and the Department of Public Works and Highways led the opening of the 8.2-kilometer Subic Freeport Expressway expansion project on Friday.
The P1.6-billion project connects Bataan, Zambales, Pampanga and the rest of Central Luzon through the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, NLEx Corp. said.
“We continued the construction of the new expressway despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and the stringent health protocols,” NLEx Corp. president J. Luigi Bautista said.
The event was attended by Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade and Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority administrator Wilma Eisma. —Miguel R. Camus
