The year may have been a challenging one, but Mega Global Corporation did not allow that to get in the way of its second National Sardines Day Celebration. Not only did Mega Global outdo itself by setting a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® for the tallest tin can structure, it also provided meals to over 100,000 Filipinos nationwide.

Mega Global achieved a milestone by setting the first GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title for tallest can (tin) structure. Using 70,638 Mega Sardines cans, Mega Global built a 5.906 meters high Christmas tree weighing almost 14,000 kilograms – an imposing and beautiful tree that caught the attention of many, and which was certified by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS representatives.

More than anything else, the towering Mega Sardines Christmas Tree  symbolizes the Filipino value of malasakit, showcased in the company’s nationwide health and nutrition advocacy program, Mega Bigay Sustansya sa Pasko.

“We are very proud of this tree, as it represents what Mega Global has aspired for this year. More than simply creating a world record, we would like Mega Global’s message of hope to reach more Filipinos, especially this Christmas. Our team has worked non-stop for 7 consecutive days to build the tallest Christmas tree made of Mega Sardines cans to represent our commitment to providing affordable and nutritious meals to Filipinos,” says Marvin Tiu Lim, Chief Growth and Development Officer.

Led by their Mega Tiu Lim Foundation in partnership with Reach Out Feed Philippines, the  Mega Bigay Sustansya sa Pasko program provided over 100,000 meals to Filipino families and communities. This initiative was built on its highly successful Covid-19 response program, which was very well received by those families who received food assistance.

For Mega Global, National Sardines Day has a special significance that goes beyond simply understanding its nutritional benefits. The celebration captures the company’s commitment to continuously uplift the lives of Filipino families, especially at this unprecedented time when good health matters above all. Its record-setting Mega Sardines Christmas tree aims to bring that message to everyone. “Christmas is all about sharing, and this is the tradition that what we at Mega Global aim to create through the National Sardines Day celebration this year and in the future,” Mr. Tiu Lim concluded.
