SMDC still the country’s best
It was a well-deserved validation of its excellence, trailblazing efforts and staunch commitment to create sustainable, premium integrated lifestyle communities befitting today’s urban dwellers.
SM Development Corp. scored an impressive feat in the recently concluded 8th PropertyGuru Philippines Property Awards, as it bagged eight major wins including the most coveted accolades of the night: “Best Property Developer” and “Best Lifestyle Developer,” along with 17 Highly Commended citations—the most number garnered by a property developer this year.
“To be recognized by an esteemed organization such as PropertyGuru, to be counted among the best, is already something that we are proud of. It is a validation that we have indeed turned our vision into reality, that we are contributing to building a nation of homeowners; not just any home, but a home that allows the homeowner to live his best life,” said SMDC president Jose Mari Banzon.
“(To the PropertyGuru organization) thank you for giving recognition to the real estate industry’s efforts to give Filipinos the best value for their hard-earned money with homes that provide the best possible living experience,” Banzon added.
SMDC also bagged the “Best Landscape” and “Best Condo Architectural Design” awards for its Sail Residences in the Mall of Asia complex; “Best Lifestyle Development” for Fern at Grass Residences in Quezon City; Best Condo Development (Luzon) for Park Residences in Laguna; and Best Mid-End Condo Development for Metro Manila for Charm Residences in Rizal. SMDC’s The Good Guys community program garnered a Special Recognition in CSR.
Fitting tribute
All these remarkable wins were a fitting tribute to the innovations and strides that SMDC has taken over the years to create exceptional projects that seamlessly fuse a healthy mix of uses in one sustainable, progressive community.
Article continues after this advertisementThat SMDC was recognized as the “Best Developer” and “Best Lifestyle Developer” shouldn’t come as a surprise as its integrated lifestyle communities have given more than just a quality home to residents and more than just a space for tenants.
Article continues after this advertisementBearing the hallmarks of a truly premium community, SMDC offered an enhanced lifestyle well suited to meet the demands of the changing times. From its first project, SMDC already pioneered the integrated mall lifestyle, which highlighted accessibility owing to a strategic location, unparalleled convenience given the completeness of the community, as well as safety and security—even before these became vital and life-changing as they are today.
Lifesaver
Such a lifestyle proved to be a lifesaver amid the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdowns that restricted movements within one’s home. SMDC residents appreciated the exceptional benefits of an integrated community as necessities are a short walk away since a mall or a commercial strip has always been an integral part of SMDC developments.
Beyond that, SMDC was quick to implement additional safety and health protocols such as regular sanitation, social distancing and temperature checks, to help ensure the well-being of residents and employees.
SMDC’s The Good Guys program also rolled out initiatives to foster community spirit, promote healthy lifestyles and develop safe neigborhoods. These include donation of face masks and face shields to the Philippine National Police; conduct of webinars that dealt with mental health, wellness, online safety and entrepreneurship; and partnership with Red Cross and SM Foundation for its Health and Wellness Caravan.
One of its more impressive projects is the Good Guys Weekend Market—an empowering initiative that ensured food security of residents and provided livelihood to some 26,000 local farmers during this challenging time. This was expanded into a Mercato, which hosted 130 resident-entrepreneurs affected by the lockdown—either because they had to close shop, were laid off or needed to augment their family income.
“As we courageously face the current crisis, there is an even more important role that we have to take on, and that is to stay committed to our mission of building communities of the Good Guys. The Good Guys, a statement which has long been appended to our brand, has taken a beautiful, more meaningful form through our community events during these trying times,” said Jan Catherine Sy, SMDC AVP and The Good Guys campaign founder.
