Vehicle sales down 23% in September
Vehicle sales fell 22.9 percent in September to 24,523 units from 31,820 units in the same month a year ago, according to a joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (Campi) and Truck Manufacturers Association.
The groups sold a total of 148,012 units in nine months, which was 44.6-percent lower than the 267,364 units sold in the comparative period of 2019.
Nevertheless, Campi noted in a statement on Monday how the sales for the month of September alone marked a 37-percent increase compared to the sales back in August of 17,906 units.
“Campi remains optimistic that the automotive sector will recover until the end,” said Campi president Rommel Gutierrez.
Toyota Motors Philippines Corp. was still the market leader despite a 44.6-percent drop in volume sales to 63,182 units.INQ
